How to play

President, also called Scum, is played by you against three computer players with one deck of 52 cards, 13 cards each. The 3 is the lowest rank and the 2 is the highest, in the order 3, 4 up to king, ace and 2, and suits do not matter. In the first round the player holding the 3 of clubs leads, and that first lead must include it. The leader plays a single card, a pair or three of a kind.

Each following player must play the same number of cards of a higher rank or pass, and a player who passes may still play later in the same trick. When all the other players still in the round pass in a row, the cards are cleared and the last player who played leads any new set. A player who plays the last card is out, and if that player made the last play the lead goes to the next player still in the round. The first player out becomes President, the second Vice-President, the third Vice-Scum and the last player Scum.

From the second round on, the Scum gives his two highest cards to the President, who gives back any two cards, and the Vice-Scum gives his highest card to the Vice-President, who gives back any one card. The Scum then leads the first trick. Each round scores 3 points for the President, 2 for the Vice-President, 1 for the Vice-Scum and 0 for the Scum, and after 5 rounds, or 10 with the Rounds button, the highest total wins, a tie going to the player who finished higher in the last round. The computer players lead their lowest set, beat with the cheapest set of the right size without breaking bigger sets when they can, save their 2s for the end and give back their lowest cards.

Controls

Click or tap cards of one rank to select them, then press the button to play them, or press Pass. Only the cards that can be part of a legal play stay bright, and the play button stays grey until the selection is a legal play. During the exchange, select the cards you give back and press the give button, and the cards you received are outlined in green. The score table lists the title and the points of every player in each round.
