Baccarat

How to play

This baccarat is free play with play chips, and no real money is involved. The cards come from a shoe of eight decks, which is shuffled again when fewer than 52 cards are left. Aces count 1, cards from 2 to 9 count their face value, and tens, jacks, queens and kings count zero. A hand is worth the last digit of its total, so a 7 and an 8 make 5, and the hand closer to 9 wins.

The player and the banker each get two cards, and if either has 8 or 9 both stand. Otherwise the player draws a third card on 0 to 5 and stands on 6 or 7. If the player stood, the banker draws on 0 to 5 and stands on 6 or 7. If the player drew, the banker always draws on 0 to 2, draws on 3 unless the player's third card is an 8, draws on 4 against a 2 to 7, draws on 5 against a 4 to 7, draws on 6 against a 6 or 7, and stands on 7.

A player bet pays 1 to 1, and a banker bet pays 0.95 to 1 because a 5 percent commission is taken from banker wins. A tie bet pays 8 to 1, and on a tie the player and banker bets push and come back to you. Over the long run the house edge is about 1.06 percent on the banker bet, 1.24 percent on the player bet and 14.4 percent on the tie bet. The bead plate under the table shows the results of the recent coups, filled column by column from the top.
