Golf Solitaire
How to play
Golf uses one deck. The deal makes seven columns of five face-up cards, one card goes face up onto the waste, and the remaining 16 cards form the stock. The goal is to clear all seven columns by moving their cards onto the waste. Every card in the columns is visible from the start, so you can plan a long chain before you begin.
Only the top card of a column can be played. It may go onto the waste when it is one rank higher or one rank lower than the waste card, whatever the suit. Ranks do not wrap around, so an Ace and a King are not neighbours. When the waste card is a King nothing can be placed on it, not even a Queen, and you have to turn a new card from the stock.
Clicking the stock turns its next card onto the waste, and the stock is used only once. The game ends when the stock is empty and no top card fits the waste. The game is won when all 35 column cards have been played. Many deals cannot be cleared completely, so a game with only a few cards left is already a good result.
Controls
Tap or click the top card of a column to play it onto the waste, or drag it there with the mouse or a finger. A card that does not fit gives a short shake and stays in place. Click the stock below the columns to turn the next card. Undo takes back moves one at a time with no limit, and Hint outlines a card that fits, or the stock when none does, in yellow. Every deal has a number shown as Game #N, Restart deal plays the same cards again, and adding ?deal=N to the page address opens that exact deal.
