Plinko
How to play
Plinko here is free play with play chips, and no real money is involved. The ball falls through 12 rows of pegs and bounces left or right at each row with an even 50 percent chance. It ends in one of 13 slots at the bottom, and the slot number equals the count of bounces to the right. The middle slots are the most likely because many paths lead to them, while each edge slot is reached by only one path in 4,096.
Each slot holds a multiplier, and your bet times that multiplier is paid back when the ball lands. The low risk row runs from 0.5 in the middle to 9 at the edges, the medium row from 0.3 to 33, and the high row from 0.2 to 180. All three rows are symmetric, so the left and right halves pay the same. Low risk pays something close to your bet most of the time, while high risk loses most of the bet on most drops and pays large amounts on rare edge landings.
The multipliers are chosen so that the expected return is 97 percent at every risk level, which means a house edge of 3 percent. This figure comes straight from the chance of each slot, which follows the binomial distribution for 12 fair bounces. The display shows RTP 97% as a reminder of that long run average. Single drops can win or lose much more than 3 percent, and the average only shows up over many drops.
Controls
Pick chips to set the bet for each ball, and use Clear to start the amount again. Choose Low, Medium or High risk to change the multiplier row before you drop. Press Drop ball to send a ball down the board, and you can drop several balls one after another. The risk level stays fixed while balls are still falling, and the latest results appear under the board.
