Go Fish

Ask the other players for cards of a rank you hold, draw when they say go fish, and collect the most books of four. Free to play in your browser. No download, no sign-up.

How to play

Go Fish is played by you against one, two or three computer players, chosen with the Players button. With two or three players each gets 7 cards, with four players each gets 5, and the rest of the deck forms the stock. You take the first turn and play goes clockwise. Four cards of the same rank form a book, which is laid down at once, even straight from the deal.

On your turn you ask one player for a rank that you already hold. If that player has cards of that rank, all of them are handed to you and you ask again. If not, the player says go fish and you draw the top card of the stock, and if it is the rank you asked for you go again, otherwise the turn passes to the next player. A player who runs out of cards draws one card from the stock, and a player with no cards when the stock is empty sits out.

The game ends when all 13 books have been made, and the player with the most books wins. When two or more players share the highest number of books, the game is a shared win and counts as won for you if you are one of them. The computer players remember which ranks each player has asked for, since asking shows that you hold the rank, and ask those players for them first. Otherwise they ask for the rank they hold the most cards of, and they do not ask a player again for a rank that player just said go fish to.

Controls

Click or tap a card in your hand to choose its rank. With one opponent the question is asked at once, and with more opponents a button appears for each player you can ask. When your hand is empty, the card from the stock is drawn for you automatically. The books of every player are listed in the middle of the table, and the Players button in the toolbar starts a new game with another number of players.
