Police arrest one suspect after targeted shooting at Vancouver's Spanish Banks
Police say one suspect is in custody and another is at large after a shooting at a parked vehicle.
VANCOUVER — Vancouver police have arrested one suspect and are searching for another after a targeted shooting at Spanish Banks Beach on Saturday afternoon.
Witnesses called police around 4:50 p.m. to report seeing two masked men shoot at an occupied parked vehicle in a parking lot at the popular beach along Northwest Marine Drive, the Vancouver Police Department said.
Const. Darren Wong said one suspect was located and arrested in East Vancouver near Fraser Street and 49th Avenue shortly after the incident.

"We believe that this was a targeted and isolated event," Wong said.
He said the suspect remains in custody as of Sunday afternoon, while a second suspect has not been found.
There are no known victims, according to Wong.
"At this time, this appears to be a targeted, isolated event, and there is no perceived ongoing threat to the general public," said Wong.
Police cordoned off an SUV with minor damage along Prince Albert Street near 49th Avenue following the shooting, which drew a major police presence to the border of the Sunset and Fraserview neighbourhoods.
People in the area noted the licence plate number of the suspects' sedan before they fled, according to police.
Officers found the sedan and initiated a traffic stop near Fraser Street and East 49th Avenue, leading to the arrest.
Investigators have since recovered the vehicle that was struck by the gunfire.
"It appears to have the makings of a gang-related incident, however it's still very early on in the investigation," Wong said.
The VPD's Major Crime Section is handling the investigation and is asking anyone who witnessed the event or has dashcam footage from the Spanish Banks area between 4:50 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday to contact them.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
