We Turned 2!

Happy Birthday Nosy Mag!

What started as a project to keep us busy over the pandemic has turned into a passion for our team. We’re reflecting on all the opportunities and support we’ve received this year and we feel immensely loved.

In the last year, we've cultivated new relationships that have led to unique collaborations and space-making. We welcomed new collective members and worked with new writers, artists, and organizations. We launched the year with our second publication and exhibition, Double Dutch, at Wallack Galleries. We collaborated with over 20 creatives for the project and the newspaper sold out on opening night. In the fall we wanted to try something new, and we collaborated with the Vanier HUB and First Crush Promotion to create Homecoming, an afternoon of art and music with the Vanier community. We hosted over 20 makers, 4 performances and 300+ visitors in a transformed parking lot that we can’t wait to return to this summer.

Through our online articles and print publication, we’ve interviewed creatives like Seiiizi who are taking strides in rebuilding Ottawa’s challenging arts infrastructure and budding underground music scene; explored the work of artist Sam Loewen and how he uses art as a tool to explore the question:“where does Christian ideology meet my queer identity?”; dove into the mind of multimedia artist Graceina Samosir to understand her relationship between art and life; got deep into the nitty gritty of Pooja Pawaskar’s fleshy sculptures – and so much more!

What’s next for Nosy Mag? Drum roll, please…we’re excited to announce our next exhibition and 3rd publication is launching on June 9th at Wallack Galleries! Save the date for, Jinx! If you’re an artist and would like to apply to our exhibition, more details will be shared shortly. Aside from this major project, we’ll be continuing to write about creatives in the city and doing what we can to share resources. If you haven’t already, subscribe to our newsletter to stay in the know about us and the Ottawa art scene.

To close off, thank you for showing up, sharing, and being creative!
